Morning Mist Jewelry and Fine Arts
Price Repair and Service Price List and Policy

All items must be checked carefully for damage and wear prior to being taken in for service. The client must initial the particular damage or wear and such items will be noted on the repair envelope. Clients must be informed of all damage and wear and work will not commence until the client completely understands all issues regarding the piece of art or jewelry. The repair envelope will be signed any and all down payments will be collected and the return date will be estimated. All work will be returned on the day promised or the artist working on your art will call you and explain to your satisfaction that the piece will need more time to be repaired, reworked or returned.

Clients will be advised regarding the condition of all stones in the piece, if stones are of a nature that they are considerered frail by industry standards, the client and artist to repair the piece will determine who shall be responsible for the stone during repair, rework or restoration. The aforementioned condition is not flexible nor is the policy of Morning Mist.

REPAIR SERVICE PRICE LIST

All repair work is based on a rate of $50.00 per hour. This is our rate for custom smithing gold, silver, brass or copper. The platinum family will be priced hourly per piece and quote. Custom engraving starts at $100.00 per hour and can go as high as $300.00 per hour if gold inlay is included in the work.

As highly skilled artisans, we at Morning Mist take great pride in the excellent quality of our work. When you receive your finished piece, we desire nothing less than your complete satisfaction. If we believe something cannot be repaired satisfactorily, Morning Mist will indicate this and return the item to the client.

Ring sizing, Ladies’ standard size based on 2mm 14k Gold (add 15% for 18k or Platinum via estimate):
$20.00 Sized smaller to 3 sizes. At this point a ring with stones could become out of round. Discuss with client and explain work to added and rational for price increase.
$22.00 One size larger.
$8.00 Each additional size larger due to distortion of ring and adjustments needed.
Ring sizing, Men’s standard weight (3mm) 14k Gold:
$20.00 Smaller up to three sizes.
$28.00 First size
$12.00 Each additional size over three as distortion may occur, Discuss with client prior to starting work, Note issues on job envelope and have client initial.
$18.00 Wedding rings forged up to 1 size providing there are no old seams.
Shanks, Ladies’ standard weight 2 mm karat gold (Add 15% for Platinum 18k and double shank or solder joined rings by quote):

Men’s standard weight 3mm karat gold:
* Higher karat and other metals are to be quoted and the quote will need client’s initials.

Prong Repairs (Prices do not include removal and replacement of sensitive gems if required):
$18.00 Center diamond tip or bead (Price per tip or bead)

$12.00 Melee Diamond or bead
$20.00 Repair or replace prong.
$14.00 Tighten prong or bead set per stone.
$20.00 Changing head to fit stone
Estimate Channel, bezel, gypsy and pave repair or work and call client if hidden problems arise (we do not continue on the piece until client is informed of the need for more repair and the client approves)
Stone Setting, 4 prongs for round or brilliant cut stones (add 25% for six prongs and fancy shapes):
$16.00 Up to .25 carat or 4 mm
$20.00 Up to .50 carats or 5 mm
$25.00 Up to 1.00 carat or 6.5 mm
$8.00 Stone removal basic 4 prong setting Advise client that removal may damage prongs All exotic settings by estimate only

Quote Rework exotic finishes, antiquing, carved details, hand engraving restoration, repolishing cabs, recutting stones, recarving, recutting diamonds, recutting colored stones, recarving cameos, etc.

Morning Mist will not guarantee work done on plated items due to unknown factors such wear and alloys used in base metals All work to be done MUST be discussed with the client prior to starting work or repair if an issue is uncovered during the repair If an issue is uncovered work will stop and client will be informed and approved prior to continuing repair

Miscellaneous Repairs:
$30.00 Remove dent in silver service, minimum charge per dent
Quote Resolder handles to tea pots and such
Quote Replace hinge pin, hollow ware
Quote Replace rivet
Quote Remove engraving in karat gold or sterling
Quote remove scratches in karat gold or sterling
Quote Recast full or partial piece for repair. All molds will become the property of Morning Mist Jewelry and Fine Arts. Arrangements for a client to purchase mold or destroy after rework is completed may be made if piece has been in the family for generations or for other personal considerations.

Services for the Discriminating Client

Morning Mist provides a broad array of metal smithing services. One of a kind jewelry and art pieces will be designed to your specifications and fabricated in our studio. All designs become the property of Morning Mist, however, arrangements can be made regarding the design and the molds and such to bring your creation to reality.

We at Morning Mist will do all we can to complete your metal smithing needs. All work will be attempted to be done in our studio. However, there are circumstances that are not feasible in our studio. This work will be subcontracted out and the work will be included in the original quote. Morning Mist will be responsible for your art piece during all phases of fabrication and casting. Subsequently, we will warrantee all work Morning Mist does or out sources. This warrantee is limited to workmanship. NO warrantee will be honored due to breakage by the client or due to the wear of the materials used that is not deemed normal. The warrantee does not include soft stone such as opal, emeralds and such. These stone can not be placed in an ultrasonic cleaning machine.

Regarding museum repair, we will quote by piece. Plaster frame and oil painting protection and or repair again by quote per piece. Repair to any and all art pieces will be by quote. Morning Mist will not be held responsible for work left after 30 days. If the work is not paid for within any time agreement with Morning Mist, the piece will be offered for sale to recover payment to Morning Mist for the work or service done. Any monies received over the price of the work done will be forwarded to the individual who defaulted on the aforementioned agreement. Also a 1099P will be forwarded to the IRS on the defaulters benefit as some people forget to report profits from art and or personal jewelry sales.
